12 Weeks of Christmas Week 10

The weeks are flying by!  Here is week 10...Designer Paper Handbag.  Dontcha love it?  It holds 6-12 handmade A2 cards.  Yet another great idea for gift giving (super teacher gift, huh?)  Oh- A2 cards are 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 ...the standard size we make in my classes.

Ok.......here we go........

You'll need a piece of 12x12 designer (double sided) paper cut 9 x 12.  I, of course, used Deck the Hall from the Holiday Mini.

Score the 12"  side at 1", 5 1/4", 6 3/4" and 11
Score the 9" side at 1 1/2" and 7 1/2"

Using paper snips- cut the small middle flaps up the the score line....this allows you to fold the ends up to form the box.

Fold all score lines inward- except the (2) 1" flaps on the very end.  These will fold out- creating the different patterned band along the top.

From Sarah's Ink Spot Blog

Using a strong adhesive (I always prefer Sticky Strip) put adhesive on outside of the small center flaps and along the inside of the large "side" flaps (you only need to do this on the left OR right side, no need to do both)

Fold ends up and adhere firmly.

To make the handles:  use the cut offs from your 12x12.  Cut 1/2 x 12 and round the corners using the corner rounder.  To position the handles- measure 1 1/2"  in from each end and mark with a pencil.   Attach handles with sticky strip, brads or eyelets.    Embellish as desired.
