Terrific Tool Tuesday

I thought I might start something different and try blogging about some of our tools we carry.  Some of them are brand new and very exciting, while others are kind of hidden in the back pages of our catalog.   On each Tuesday, I am going to highlight a Terrific Tool just for you.

First, we'll start off with MY favorite new tool:   Simply Scored

Now, I did have another version of this tool from Martha (ptooey) and I liked it fine.  But, I always try to give my products a chance.  Well, I love it.  First and foremost because the stylus is soooooo, sooooooo, soooooo much better than the flimsy bone folder.  I also like the markers to show all my customers exactly where you are to score (it comes with 3 but you can get extra)

Introducing Stampin' Up!'s original scoring tool--designed exclusively by and for Stampin' Up! With etched grooves every 1/8", and the ability to score card stock up to 12" x 12", the Simply Scored scoring tool helps you create perfectly measured score marks.  It's great for creating multiple projects or projects with a variety of score marks!
Features of the Simply Scored Scoring Tool

  • Comes with a high-quality stylus instead of a plastic bone folder.
    • Stylus is ergonomically shaped and features a comfort grip.
    • The high-quality metal tips on each end of the stylus--they come in two sizes--glide smoothly over your paper.
  • Features a unique set of place markers that let you mark your score lines when creating multiple projects with the same score lines.
    • Includes three place markers.
    • Additional place markers can be purchased for flawless scoring.
  • Includes a hidden storage compartment in the back of the base to hold your scoring tools.
  • Accommodates card stock up to 12" x 12".
Product Details
  • Item 122334; $29.95
  • Simply Scored includes
    • 1 scoring board
    • 1 stylus
    • 3 place markers
  • Dimensions of scoring board: 15-1/8" x 13-1/4" x  1"

Just for your entertainment, I'm going to share a project using the Simply Scored.  This is from my upline Cindy Fodor.   Enjoy!

Technique Swap 3 and the Winner!

Here is the third swap in my technique swap.  It's so cute....and uses Turtle and Co, our Ronald McDonald House Charity stamp set.  When you purchase this set, we donate $3.00 to RMHC.  A win win.....

This one is called Faux Alligator:

Debi Calandrelle

Use a versamark pad to cover the area of cardstock that you want texturized.  Cover wtih embossing powder (clear is used here).  Use your bone folder to "draw" lines through the embossing powder.  Uneven lines look more realistic.  Shake off the excess and heat emboss.

And....drum roll please.....the winner of my re-useable shopping bag is:  TERESA W!  Your luck is very good lately....or maybe you are paying off my son?  Anyway- congratulations and I'll have your bag at stamp club in October.

Technique Swap 2

Crimped Diamond

Carol Henry

Craftin' with Kids

I held my semi annual Craftin' with Kids event on August 27th.  I did this last year and the date seems to work pretty well.  Many folks were in town, because school was starting on Monday.  It also gave the kids the opportunity to make a card for their friends or their teachers for their first day.   I love watching the kids start to create their card....I give them the "guideline" and they each  make it their own.  Most of them know exactly who they are giving that card to when they start.

Here are the cards we made (I have tried making other projects, but apparently, kids LOVE cards!)

stamp set:  turtle and co (our ronald mcdonald house stamp set), happiest birthday wishes (hostess set)
cardstock:  sahara sand, whisper white, island indigo, pool party
ink:  basic black, island indigo
accessories:  lattice folder for  mr. big, scallop edge border punch, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, pop dots, colored pencils.

stamp set:  need for speed (belongs to my son, he saw it in the new catalog and it was a MUSt have for him!)
cardstock:  whisper white, pumpkin pie, tempting turquoise
ink:  tempting turquoise
accessories:  pumpkin pie designer paper, pumpkin pie/tempting turquoise 1/4 inch grosgrain, 1 1/4 square punch, 1 3/8 square punch, houndstooth folder for mr. big and pop dots.

stamp sets:  aviary, distressed dots, teeny tiny wishes
cardstock:  whisper white, marina mist
ink:  so saffron, perfect plum, marina mist

*if you attended this class and took home the wrong card, PLEASE let me know.  One of the girl's made this for her dad and ended up with the wrong one.  Her's says Happy Father's Day.  She has yours and would love to trade!

Now, I loved all of the cards, but this last one.....I had to "BAM" it up a notch, so here's my version:

not too many changes, just a layer of perfect plum, a little paper piercing, some hardware and a small piece of ribbon.  Ta-Da!  Straight from last year's catalog!

I had 19 kids come stamp on Saturday- that's AWESOME!  I hope everyone had a good time, enjoyed their cards and snacks and I appreciate everyone's patience!  I will be doing another one this winter, when we are all stuck inside, bored out of our minds and looking for something fun.  Stay tuned!
