Wow Wednesday

Wow Wednesday was this week and it was so popular, it had a baby and we called it Terrific Tuesday!   We had a great time creating this super cool projects.

First we made this card:  it uses the Fresh Vintage (remember....it's a freebie) and an interesting color combo:  Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler.  I like it.

stamp set:  fresh vintage (SAB freebie) and Apothecary (occasions)
ink:  cherry cobbler, pool party, stazon black
cardstock:  whisper white, pool party and cherry cobbler
accessories:  simply scored (score long/short side at every 1/2 inch to give grid background) 1 1/4 square punch, itty bitty punch, rhinestones, pool party baker's twin (occasions mini), popdots

Then.....we did some Spirelli.   So easy and I even wow'd myself!

stamp set:  mixed bouquet (occasions), delightful dozen
ink:  whisper white
cardstock:  whisper white, lucky limeade, basic grey and twitterpated designer paper (occasions)
accessories:  mixed bouquet punch (occasions), white embossing powder, lucky limeade ruffled ribbon and lucky limeade bakers twine, scallop circle punch, popdots

If you are like me, you are a visual learner.....so rather than try and explain this technique, I'll send you to the source!  All you need to do is CLICK HERE

Our next project and probably the most favorite was Frosty, the Telescoping Snowman!  So fun!

When he's folded....he looks like a melted snowman....but then,
he suddenly stands up!

cardstock:  basic black, whisper white, real red, pumpkin pie and silver glimmer paper

I found the video instructions and it's a lot easier to give credit where credit is due.....so thank you, Tami White!  (who I am pretty sure copied it from someone else)  That's the fun of stamping!

Enjoy!

BIG News....Big....Huge.....

Good Morning Stampers!
Many of our demonstrators are in San Antonio, Texas at Leadership Convention and they are reporting some breaking news regarding our catalogs....and the changes start this year!

Stampin' Up! is trying to make things easier on all of us and one thing they have heard repeatedly is "too much" and "overwhelming."  As much as we LOVE our stamps...sometimes less is more, especially when our catalog can be overwhelming to many people, especially new stampers.

So- here is what is going down:

  • The current Idea Book and Catalog is going to end on May 31st (NOT June 30th) so you may want to consider that (especially club members)

  • The new Annual Catalog (as it will now be called) will be live on June 1st.  I am not sure what this means for our retiring list, but they will keep us in touch soon, I'm sure.

  • The new Annual Catalog will be shorter by 40 pages and made of a lighter weight paper so that demonstrators are able to mail them to our customers via SU at a reasonable price.   I, for one, am happy about that because mailing one of those suckers costs the same amount as the catalog itself!

  • The Decor Elements and Simply Adorned line will be discontinued (they just weren't going over well) I expect to see them on the retiring list and hopefully on sale!!!

  • We will NOT have a Summer Mini this year

  • We will have two Minis per year- Holiday and Spring- they will be much larger (8 1/2 x 11) and about 8 pages longer and be available for a longer time frame.
That's about it......I have heard that the "seasonal" or "holiday" sets will be featured more in the mini that is covered during that time frame.  So, the Big catalog may have some sets in, but you'll find more of a selection in the mini.

Look for more info to come.....especially on pre ordering those new catalogs!  Any questions.....just let me know.  Happy Stampin'!

Snowflake Rosette

Those of you who earned 500 Club this year, were privy to this "dud" when we we tried to make snowflake rosettes using the Lace Border Punch.  Well, the idea was given to us in our Stampin' Success (SU's monthly magazine for demos) and I followed their instructions.  It didn't go so well and we all were pretty frustrated....that happens sometimes, but I sure don't like it.

In my quest to find out what we were doing wrong, I came upon this video from Mary Fish and darned if it doesn't work.  The trick is to make your cardstock a bit longer and then use a 3/4 circle on the back to help it stay "down."  I love the look and am glad I found this...so I'll share it with you as well!

um...wow

So.....my upline, Cindy, sent  me a Christmas card this season......and um....hello....wow!

Just thought you'd like to see it.  Now, in case it doesn't show in the picture.  That is black satin ribbon, starched and embossed with the snow burst embossing folder!  So cool!

All cards will have the Angel Policy on the back to comply with Stampin' Up! rules.

Here is the card of the month for January.   All orders will be processed via Paypal....order yours today!  Please make arrangements to pick up unless you choose to have your kit shipped.

Happy 2012

Another year has come and gone.  I just don't know how a year can fly by so fast?  But, here we are.... and January 1st is almost over.    Jr. Edition and I spent a good part of the day in my stamp room.   He had made New Year's cards for our friends last night and I loved his idea so much, I am stealing it!   I asked him to make a few more so they can send out some Christmas thank yous.   I was having fun playing with all my new goodies from the new Occasions Mini catalog!  They had taken a back burner when my stamp room became Christmas central for a few days.  Not a bad way to ring in the new year, huh?

In the midst of all the holiday hustle and bustle, I was able to hold a downline meeting with some of my local gals and a few "stampin' sisters."  We try to get together through the year, but our schedules don't always jive....so we took some time out and found that we all had December 29th free!

We had a potluck dinner- and did a shoebox swap.  Here is what we created:

Carol B- used the SAB set Fresh Vintage and the coordinating designer paper, Everyday Enchantment as well as the ribbon and brad pack.  You can earn ALL these items for FREE starting Jan 24th.  Ask me how!  She also used our new hearts framelets.

Joanna I used the SAB set Elementary Elegance and also, the SAB designer paper and coordinating ribbon.  All can be earned for FREE.

Debi C used my new favorite, Mixed Bouquet from the Occasions mini.  Love the fact that he has a coordinating punch.  She also used the SAB designer paper and matching ribbon...again....what's the word?  FREE!!

Mandy C used a gorgeous new set in the mini called, Love and Laughs.  The perfect new wedding set.  She coordinated it with the frame from Elementary Elegance and we embossed the whole darn thing in silver....beautiful.

Becky L used Party this Way.  It's a current stamp in the big catalog, but we have lots of current items that you can earn for FREE during SAB.  Awesome!  Love the antique brads on this!

Heather F used an Occasion set called, Mouthwatering....and it is!  Because, this Popsicle is embossed with SCENTED embossing powder!  That's right....it smells like melon!  She also used the coordinating paper, Sweet Shoppe.  And topped if off with our  new Pool Party Baker's Twine.  Love it!!

This is mine.  I used Mixed Bouquet as well and also our new, Twitterpated designer paper from the Occasion mini.  Love the colors....so....bright and cheery.

And since it's a new year and I want to start it off right, how about some blog candy?

All you need to do is tell me what your most excited about in the Occasions Mini (or Sale a bration...but not sure you got your mini's yet) and you can win this:

Thank you Kindly....a perfect set to say thank YOU kindly for supporting me for the last 10 years!   Happy New Year, Stampers!!!  You can respond here, on facebook or my email.  Good Luck!  I'll pick a winner on Tues morning.
